Fitting Image began in Los Angeles in 1992 as a professional fitness training company by owner Debby McKnight. Debby is a fitness and nutrition expert with nearly 40 years of experience. She began as a ballet and jazz dancer, then took that dance training and developed her own style of dance cardio that she taught for almost 15 years. In the early eighties, as more women began lifting weights to get into shape, Debby began bodybuilding. Debby was attracted to the sport of bodybuilding because she realized it was the best way to balance out her physique, plus she loved the performance aspect of competing, which combined posing and dance. Debby advanced quickly in the sport, rising in the ranks to win state and regional level competitions. In 1988, she moved to the national level stage winning the Women’s Heavyweight and Overall NPC Jr. USA; and in 1989, won the Women’s Heavyweight, Overall, and Mixed Pairs at the NPC USA Championship in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Debby earned her International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) Pro Card which qualified her to compete with the top female bodybuilders in the world. Debby ranked in the top 5 female competitors in international professional competition competing in the Jan Tana, Roanoke, Virginia, The Arnold Classic and Ms. International, Columbus, Ohio, the Grand Prix Italy, Rimini, the Grand Prix Prague, and the Ms. Olympia.
During her bodybuilding career her articles were featured in Flex, Muscular Development, Women’s Physique World and many other international publications. With her bodybuilding career she also traveled and became a popular guest poser and speaker at other bodybulding shows, gym openings, and trade shows. Debby’s career in the fitness and nutrition industry has included managing several successful health clubs, being the operations manager of a large hospital-based wellness center, speaking to corporations to help improve employee wellness, and owning her own personal training company. She has been certified through AFAA, ISSA, PFIT, and PRO-PTA and is a certified Fitness Trainer, Nutrition Tech, and Rehabilitative Exercise Specialist. However, her most important job has been being Mom to 4 children, and Nanna to 4 grandchildren.
